The island of Mallorca (also Majorca) is situated in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Spain. Its stunning natural beauty and many tourist attractions annually entice hundreds of thousands of visitors, mainly from Europe. Its pristine beaches with fine white sand, many caves and private rocky coves are a major attraction, mostly on the north and east coasts. There are many exciting resort developments along these coasts that will provide hours of well organised entertainment. The Mediterranean climate ensures bright, sunny summers with long, hot days. The capital city, La Palma, is home to sports trendy boutiques and exclusive shops just waiting to be discovered by ardent shopaholics. It also has a very interesting Old Town, popular with tourists. For visitors looking for good hotels Mallorca Spain has many to offer.

Most of the best hotels are part of resorts along the coast and are close to tourist attractions. Relax in air conditioned luxury in spacious rooms or suites with beautifully appointed bathrooms finished in marble and containing hair dryers, shavers, luxury toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. Rooms contain safes, tea and coffee making facilities and beds with special mattresses, hypo-allergenic pillows and linen bedding. Large LCD screen television sets with movie channels, CD and DVD players and iPods entertain guests in their own rooms. Room service and housekeeping attend to the needs of visitors. For guests in these hotels Mallorca Spain offers spectacular views from private balconies, mostly of the crystal-clear ocean. You can visit the swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, spa or gymnasium or shop in the on site gift shop. Translating services, car rental desks and an ATM are at your disposal.

Business visitors are well looked after. Hotels are often close to central business districts and many have a shuttle service available. A business center in the hotel has fax, photocopying and audio visual equipment available and secretarial or personal assistant services. For those in need of conference facilities in hotels Mallorca Spain has a variety of all sizes. A venue planner will organize any meetings or conferences. Telephones have direct dialing lines and voicemail. Each room has a work station with a personal computer connected to WI-FI or other fast internet service.

Restaurants on the island serve many different kinds of food. Italian, French, Mexican and continental cuisine compete with local dishes that often contain olives and almonds, which are locally grown. Sobrasada sausages, which consist of raw minced pork with hot red pepper, spicy chorizo sausage and frit mallorqui (fried offal with potatoes, onions and tomatoes) are popular. In pubs you will find Jamon Serrano, a whole cured ham attractively displayed and ready to be sliced. Tapas forms an appetizer but can be had as a full meal. Seafood is plentiful and generally excellent. There are some very good local wines, such as Binnisalem red from the manto negro grape and the famous Jose Luis Ferrer wine. The local brandies are also good as is Menorcan gin!

For those living in a local hotel Mallorca Spain has a vibrant night life to offer. Magalluf contains most of the exclusive clubs, such as Planet Dance, Tito's and Banana Joe's. Bird watching, hiking, horse riding and cycling in the Parc Natural de s'Albufera wetlands or the Tramuntana Mountain Range are extremely rewarding, as is a visit to the Illa de Cabrera beaches, or explore the spectacular limestone stalactites and stalagmites in the Caves del Drac near Porto Cristo. Golfers have a choice of twelve golf courses such as Son Vida. Diving, boat cruises and fishing are other active sports for the enthusiast. The Gothic cathedral in Palma is one of the grandest in Europe and the medieval hermitage at Calvario has a mysterious crucifix to ponder. The Western Park Water Park in Magalluf will entertain the whole family. The nearby island of Ibiza is always worth a visit.

Many annual events draw thousands of visitors. In January the festival of San Sebastian honours the patron saint of Palma. The Carnival in February and March includes parades and fancy dress balls. The Semana Santa Holy Week celebrations in March feature prominently in Palma. Pollenca features the famous "Dance of the Eagles" during Corpus Cristi in June. August celebrates the Assumption of the Virgin throughout Spain and in September and October the Harvest Festival celebrates the arrival of autumn. The Noche Buena Christmas Eve celebrations include nativity plays and midnight mass. On December 31st the Festa de l'Estandard commemorates the conquest of Palma in 1229!
